James H. Keeton papers, 1934-1988.

The collection concerns James H. Keeton's aviation career. The majority of the material concerns Keeton's involvement with the Key Brothers' flight. There is also a significant amount of material regarding Keeton's career as an airline pilot. The collection contains photocopies of newspaper clippings, original newspaper clippings, photocopies of correspondence, photographs, and ceremony programs. It also holds an audio cassette of Keeton's "How to Become an Airline Pilot" (1982).

James H. Keeton was an airplane pilot between the 1930s and 1970s. Keeton was born in Meridian, Mississippi in 1910 and started flying in 1930. He was best known for serving as the fueling and supply pilot during the Key Brothers flight, which set a flight endurance world record of 650 hours in 1935. He was also a founder of Keeton-Parker Flying Service in 1934 and served as an airline pilot for United Airlines between 1936 and 1970.
